Today's overview
At the end of a visit in the village, it turns out that number of places stays under exploited. For many reasons, some projects seem unsettled and deserve to be regained control. Other projects, joining a development of our heritage and environment, deserve a place in the life of our municipality.
Your Environment committee is willing at the moment to study the possibility of planning these points, and of establishing priorities, directly dictated by the budgetary constraints. You will be kept informed here, through out these columns, of the essential evolutions.
Selective Sorting

civility, Public-spiritedness and Solidarity!
For several years, Selective Sorting is part of your everyday life.
Your gesture allows, by recycling materials made from natural resources, to protect these and to limit greenhouse gases. Furthermore, by preferring recycling to extraction of new raw materials, you allow a significant energy saving.
Finally, your efforts support the economy and the employment: From 1992 to 2007, 28000 direct jobs were created by the selective collection, the sorting, and the recycling of packagings (ERNST and YOUNG Study - 2007)
These "eco-citizens" gestures become a habit, and for all that, but also for that reason, doubts can exist on the "good" way, the instructions evolving in the course of the progress of the methods of waste treatment.
To help you : 3 golden rules, 2 tricks…
Good Gesture N°1: paper Packagings, cardboard, aluminum, food bricks: YELLOW BOX
- Steel packagings and alu: cans, conjoint boxes, spray …
- Paper packagings and cardboards: boxes of cereal, cakes, …
- Food bricks: of milk, soup..
- Any newspapers and magazines WITHOUT their plastic packaging
Good Gesture N°2: Plastic bottles: only bottles and flasks in the YELLOW BOX
- Bottles of water, flasks of wash liquid, shower gel or shampoo, bottles of oil …
- Leave corks: cleaner and simpler.
Good Gesture N°3: RECYCLING - GLASS: bottles, jars
- But not other glass objects! (Dishes, china, earthenware, do not retrain)
Trick 1: It is useless to WASH packagings (Saving water is important too !), emptying them.is enough
Trick 2: leave bulk packagings, do not imbricate them , their management will be easier.
We remind you that the " green waste " is not to be thrown in trash cans, nor in yellow containers. A composter remains the best solution and the CCLPA proposes you solutions.
Respect Nature
Thinh about Nature ! Remember, for example,that a cigarette end thrown to the ground puts (according to the type and the weather conditions) between 6 months and ...10 years for decomposing, and can pollute, they say, up to 500 liters of water !
A chewing gum thrown in the nature is also a source of pollution.
Did you know that it puts five years disappearing in the nature? The rejection of chewing gum became a major pollution in the streets of all the big cities of the world. In the United Kingdom the market of the chewing gum is estimate at 400 million euros a year and the cleaning in the middle of this sum !
What is chewing gum made of ?
The colouring agent: a substance which we make dissolve in a liquid or in a dough to give to them of the color,
The gelatin: an obtained substance by boiling animal materials (bone) and vegetable (seaweeds),
The emulsifier: a product tension-asset which stabilizes an emulsion, here a preparation with gelatin, by coating with a movie of drops in suspension,
Stabilizing it : to improve the chemical stability of the material
The making gel agent: a transforming natural or synthetic substance / thickening the liquid foodstuffs in frosts
The wax of Carnauba: an agent of natural envelope. It is a yellow wax taken from the surface of the leaves of Copernicia Cerifera
The sorbitol: used as sweetener and as stimulant of the biliary excretion,
The bicarbonate: a chemical compound which contains an atom of acid hydrogen (-HO3),
The basic gum: it is the support of the chewing gum, that is the gum which we chew.
In brief we find there: artificial gums, syrup of industrial sugar, essential oil or artificial flavors, sweeteners as xylitol, synthetic products as asparatame, cyclamate (which effects on the health are debated) or the saccharin (also debated and forbidden in countries as Canada or the United States). Besides, birds often take these " white balls " for a piece of bread, and die suffocated by this fatal ingestion....
Think about WHAT HAPPENS then when a toxic product is poured in a gap !
There is no small gesture without big consequence on the nature …
We count on you to fight against this kind of unbearable act, and are by your side for it too, to protect our living environment.

Resuming the management
of Fiac's landscape
From the Roman Afius (Afiaco on 1203), the name of Fiac was connected with the symbol of the Leaf of Fig tree (Ficus in Latin).
One of the first projects regarding embellishment thus was to restore in our municipality the tree which supplied it its Blazon. You will thus see, From the Village to Brazis, the installation of this symbolic tree.
But our living environment deserves many other arrangements, which are lacking today.
For several reasons however, we shall be forced to take our time.
First of all, you read it before, because of a Budget which deprives us, at this beginning of mandate, necessary funds. Our action does not want to join a heaviness of the debt, and for this first reason,works will not "be immediately "Pharaonic".
Then because projects regarding Nature always deserve time.
We shall propose you anyway in the coming months several tracks:
- The creation of places in diverse points of the municipality. We shall invite you to use " corners(places) with cuttings ", so as to propose plantations there stemming from your collections, that is to take it and take advantage of it. We shall ask you however to favor plants not requiring too much maintenance, the purpose being to be able to create "community" massifs while continuing the effort of savings that our team impulsed.
- The opening of a " discovery path ", of educational aim, where to sensibilze our children about importanceof knowing Nature so that they participate in its conservation;
- The restoration of several neglected places, despite of a certain charm.
